Silver Dragon Tours and Treks (SDTT) is one of the few successful tour companies which was started with a genuine interest on the part of the management to give all the guests, who come through SDTT, a true Bhutanese experience and holiday.

Apart from the proprietor, Palden Tshewang, who has a vast experience as a travel guide for 12 years, SDTT has numerous skilled, knowledgeable and friendly ready-to-serve guides and assistants.

Palden visited the United States in the summer of 2001 to partake in further guide training. On his month long trip his training included wilderness trekking and camping in the Colorado Rockies, an introduction to rock climbing, and trekking and traveling in the dessert. These opportunities allowed him to learn further develop his wilderness and trekking skills while having a chance to learn about the places where our clients live and recreate. An invaluable skill in the field. Also during his month long trip Palden had the opportunity to partake in a whitewater kayak and inflatable raft course. To complete his trip he also was introduced to First Aid.

To further his guide training in the summer of 2005 Palden joined seasoned guide and author of “Trekking in Tibet” Gary McCue on a month long trek to the Everest’s East Face, the Kangshung. Mr. McCue is the authority on trekking in Tibet. Palden’s travels in Tibet with Gary allowed him to be first handedly be trained by and one of the most experienced trip leaders in all of Nepal and Tibet.

Palden Tshewang has trekked and accompanied trekkers through all the 20 trekking routes in the kingdom from relatively easier Samtengang Trek to the formidable Snowman Trek. He also has hand-on experiences of all the popular tourist destination in the country.
